Kithwell opened in Bang Rak in early 2022, founded by a small group of community organisers who had spent years running informal parenting circles and family documentation workshops across central Bangkok. What started as occasional evening meetups in a rented room on Thanon Surawong grew into a more structured set of programmes when families kept asking for something with more consistency.
The name 'Kithwell' comes from the old English idea of kith — meaning neighbours and known people — combined with a straightforward belief that things go better when people are well-supported. That combination sums up what the organisation tries to do each week.
Today, Kithwell runs three programmes: peer support groups, parenting information sessions, and a family records organisation toolkit. All are offered in English and welcome both Thai families and the wider expatriate community settled in Bangkok.

Siriporn Mahawan
Programme Director
Siriporn has coordinated community education initiatives in Bangkok for over a decade. She oversees session scheduling and works closely with facilitators to keep programmes grounded and relevant.
James Whitmore
Group Facilitator
James leads the weekly community support groups. Originally from the UK and based in Bangkok since 2016, he brings a calm, structured approach to peer facilitation that participants consistently appreciate.
Nattaporn Krisana
Records & Tools Coordinator
Nattaporn developed the records organisation templates used in Kithwell's toolkit. She runs the onboarding sessions for new toolkit participants and handles ongoing support questions.

Facilitated, Not Lectured
Support groups and information sessions are run as conversations, not presentations. Facilitators guide rather than direct, so participants stay central.
Confidentiality as a Ground Rule
All group participants agree upfront that what is shared stays within the group. Facilitators hold the same standard. No notes are taken that could identify individuals.
Personal Data Protection

Participant Feedback Loop
At the end of each programme cycle we ask participants what worked and what could be different. Those responses directly shape the next cycle.

Consistent Scheduling
Sessions run on a regular, published timetable. Participants know when to come and can plan around it. Dates are held unless there is an unavoidable reason to move them.
Family Organisation & Peer Support in Bangkok
Bangkok is home to a diverse mix of Thai families, long-term residents, and newer arrivals who share the ordinary challenges of keeping a household running and a family connected. Kithwell works across that mix, offering programmes that don't require any particular background, language level beyond everyday English, or prior experience with peer group settings.
The records organisation toolkit emerged from a recurring observation: families often struggled not because they lacked information, but because that information was scattered — across phones, email threads, and paper folders that nobody could locate when needed. The templates Kithwell developed are simple, printable, and structured around the types of records most households actually need to keep tidy.
Parenting information sessions draw on publicly available frameworks and general educational research. They are not discipline-specific courses and don't advocate for a single approach. Instead, they present a range of ways families have approached common situations — routines, communication across age groups, and day-to-day organisation — and leave participants to take what is useful and leave what isn't.
